Properties of SINARLEV-DBC (Levelling agent)
Chemical constitution | SINARLEV-DBC (Levelling agent), mixture of an additional complexing agent and polymers |
Ionic character | Anionic |
Physical form | Clear, colorless, low-viscosity liquid |
pH of 5% solution: | About 5 |
Specific gravity at 20°C | About 1.1 |
Viscosity | 5–10 m Pas at a shear of 3s-1 (equivalent to Brookfield spindle 2, 20 rpm). |
General stability | Highly stable in hard water and to alkalis, acids and electrolytes at the concentrations usually encountered in dyeing. |
Storage stability | Stable for at least 1 year at 20°C in closed containers. |
Compatibility | Can be used together with anionic and nonionic products if dyeing is performed carefully. |
Ecology/toxicology | The usual hygiene and safety rules for handling chemicals should be observed in storage and handling. The product must not be swallowed. . |

APPLICATIONS of SINARLEV-DBC (Levelling agent)
SINARLEV-DBC (Levelling or Dispersing Agent) protective colloid can be diluted in all proportions by pouring on cold or warm water.
This depends on water hardness, purity of the cotton and liquor ratio. The following recommendation can be used as a guideline:
1.0–3.0 g/l SINARLEV-DBC, The maximum amount of SINARLEV- DBC is recommended for use in hard water, for gray-state or impure cotton, and in short-liquor treatments
Note SINARLEV-DBC- levelling agent
SINARLEV-DBC protective colloid must also be used for dyeing in soft water. In reactive dyeing with soda as fixing alkali, the formation of calcium carbonate can result in stains, markings and un-levelness. SINARLEV-DBC protective colloid prevents all this.
SINARLEV-DBC protective colloid is particularly recommended for dyeing gray-state cotton and for the wash-dye procedure.
Dispersing power:
1 g/l SINARLEV-DBC protective colloid disperses up to about
0.125 g/l CaCO3. This is equivalent to a water hardness of about
9° Clark. Determination is done by a modified Hampshire test method.
Calcium inactivation:
1 g/l SINARLEV-DBC protective colloid inactivates up to about
0.025 g/l CaO. This is equivalent to a water hardness of about 3° Clark. Determination is done by complexometric titration.
How calcium and magnesium enter the dye bath:
Calcium and magnesium can originate from hard water and/or the cotton. Cotton can contain up to 3000 ppm hardness salts (calcium, magnesium), depending on origin and pretreatment. Pretreated cotton can still contain up to
300 ppm calcium and magnesium.
Example: In soft water, at a 10:1 liquor ratio, cotton containing
300 ppm calcium gives a concentration of 0.03 g/l calcium (equivalent to 0.042 g/l CaO or 5° Clark).
